Unit transfers
Here's how Whale handles unit transfers at the same property:
Entrata integrations:
If the renter is transferring units at the same property, Whale will automatically move their deposit, less any charges owed from the financial move-out, to their new unit. If the property has enabled Auto-Collect Increased Deposits, Whale will request additional funds based on the property’s deposit settings.
Example
Renter with a $1,000 deposit moves out of Unit A at Willow Creek and moves into Unit C. When the financial move-out was finalized, they owed $100 so $900 was transferred to the new unit.
The property has Auto-Collect Increased Deposits enabled and the property has set the standard deposit amount = 1x monthly rent. Rent for the tenant is now $1,150 per month so Whale will automatically trigger a deposit request for $250 to supplement their transferred deposit of $900.
All other integrations:
Whale will process the move-out as it normally would, deducting any amount owed to the property and unlocking the remainder for the renter.
If Whale is enabled at the new property, Whale would identify the renter as a new move-in and send a deposit request. The renter would then be able to complete that deposit request, using any funds already in their Whale account if they would like.
